Fun, Creepy and Somewhat Disgusting Halloween Recipes

For years, I have made creepy Halloween treats.  Here are a few of my favorites.  I never thought to photograph them, but I did find some pictures online.  Have fun with these!

Witches Fingers

witches fingers
11 oz. tube refrigerated breadstick dough
1/4 c. butter, melted
2 Tbs. cinnamon sugar
1 large egg, slightly beaten
almonds-sliced, natural (with skin)

Heat oven to 375*.
Crumble 4 large pieces of foil. Shape into a 15×2 inch log. Place on baking sheet.
Unroll dough. Cut each of the rectangles crosswise in half, then lengthwise into 2 strips.  Cut 1 end of each into a fingertip shape.
Roll strips in butter and drape over foil logs. Sprinkle with cinnamon sugar. Brush fingertips with beaten egg and press an almond slice on each fingertip.
Bake 8 minutes until golden. Makes 48 fingers.
**NOTE** I have made these without the cinnamon sugar/butter coating so they could be dipped into……

Ghoul Drool

bread dipping sauce, ghoul drool
4 tsp. Pampered Chef Oil Dipping Seasoning (I like the Sun-Dried Tomato Herb and Spinach and Smoky Red Pepper)
1 tsp. water
4 Tbs. olive oil
Mix together and let stand for a few minutes to let flavors blend.   This can also be served with French Loaf slices (pieces of bone)

Kitty Litter Cake

kitty litter cake
1 Spice cake mix OR German Chocolate cake mix
1 white cake mix
2 large packages vanilla instant pudding mix, prepared (I just used one package, prepared)
1 large package vanilla sandwich cookies
green food coloring
small Tootsie rolls

1 new kitty litter pan
1 new pooper scooper

Prepare cake mixes and bake according to directions.
Prepare pudding mix and chill until ready to assemble.
Crumble white sandwich cookies in small batches in food processor, scraping often (I    usually just put the cookies in a ziplock bag and roll a rolling-pin over them until they are smashed up)
Set aside 1/4 cup. To the 1/4 cup cookie crumbs, add a few drops of green food coloring and mix until completely colored.
When the cakes have cooled to room temperature, crumble into a large bowl. Toss with 1/2 of the remaining white cookie crumbs and the chilled pudding. Combine gently.     Important: Mix in just enough of the pudding to moisten it. You don’t want it too soggy and that’s why I just used one package.
Put the cake, pudding, cookie mixture into the NEW litter box.
Place unwrapped Tootsie rolls in a microwave safe dish and heat until soft and pliable.       Shape the ends so they are no longer blunt, curving slightly. Bury them in the mixture.
Sprinkle the other half of cookie crumbs over the top. Scatter green cookie crumbs lightly on top of everything. Place the pan on top of some newspaper and sprinkle some cookie crumbs on the newspaper for a truly disgusting effect!  Serve with your NEW pooper scooper.
Note: this makes a HUGE amount of cake. It will fill a kitty litter pan completely.

2 cups finely crushed chocolate cookies
1/2-3/4 cup rice crispies
1-1/2 cups powdered sugar
1/3 cup maraschino cherry juice
3 Tbs. light corn syrup
2 cups white vanilla chips
2 Tbs. vegetable oil
Assorted decorator gel icings-red, green and black

In a large bowl, combine crumbs, rice crispies, and powdered sugar, mix well. Add cherry juice and syrup; mix well for form a stiff dough.
Shape into 1-inch balls. Place on waxed paper and refrigerate 1 hour to set.
In a small, microwave-safe bowl, combine chips and oil. Microwave 30-45 seconds or until melted, stirring once during cooking. Dip balls in melted chips; set aside on waxed paper until set.
Decorate with gel icing to look like blood-shot eyes. Makes 42(?) eyeballs. (I only get 25)

Ghosts or Mummies

I box of your favorite cake mix
1 cup marshmallow crème OR 1 tub of frosting (flavor of your choice)
1 package vanilla almond bark
mini chocolate chips

Bake cake according to directions and cool.
Tear up cake and put in a BIG bowl. Add the tub of frosting or marshmallow creme. Mix together until it has a play-doh consistency and everything is mixed thoroughly.
Shape balls and let them dry a few hours on wax paper. Melt almond bark and dip cake balls in almond bark.  Let sit on wax paper.  Add 2 mini chips for the eyes and dry completely.
Variation: Pipe some almond bark on cake balls before adding mini chips to make mummies.

About the blonde gardener

I'm an Arkansas girl born and raised. I garden in the beautiful Northwest part of the state (zone 6b or 7) surrounded by the Ozark Mountains. My favorite part about the area is we have 4 distinct seasons and are able to enjoy a variety of activities. My main passion is gardening but I also enjoy hiking, birding, 4-wheeling and motorcycle trips. Basically anything outside. Thanks for stopping by! Brenda

I have made the eyeballs before for a Halloween party. They looked great and tasted delicious but they were a lot of work. The kitty litter is truly nasty. Lol! I don;t know if I could take a scoop out of that.
