The Most Important Part of a Trip

I know you shouldn’t have rules when you take a vacation, but let’s just say we have an understanding about one thing.

We don’t eat at chain restaurants.  The exception to this is stopping at McDonald’s for a Diet Coke. Since this is technically “not eating”, we feel we have not violated said agreement.

We loved searching for great local spots to grab a bite.

We found some yummy treats at the Plantation Pecan Co. in Waterproof, LA.  This small town has acres and acres of pecan groves.  Amazing.

One of our favorites places was Fat Mama’s Tamales in Natchez.  Famous for the “Knock You Naked Margarita’s”, I will say they were pretty tasty.  And, I can safely say, “tequila did NOT make my clothes fall off.” Just in case you were wondering.

How would you like to walk in here after a couple of Knock You Naked Margaritas?  Whoa, dude.

Oh, and the tamales were  good, too.

Just in case you were wondering.

p.s. time to get back to the garden!

About the blonde gardener

I'm an Arkansas girl born and raised. I garden in the beautiful Northwest part of the state (zone 6b or 7) surrounded by the Ozark Mountains. My favorite part about the area is we have 4 distinct seasons and are able to enjoy a variety of activities. My main passion is gardening but I also enjoy hiking, birding, 4-wheeling and motorcycle trips. Basically anything outside. Thanks for stopping by! Brenda

  1. So much fun, and yes understandings are acceptable, within reason.

  2. My youngest stepson teases us that we only go on vacation to eat…Hubby’s first question every morning is, “Where do you want to eat dinner?”
Looks like you found some real winners this trip 😀

  3. Loving the name and sound of the Margarita’s – I love a good Margarita reaches places other cocktails don’t!

  4. Good food is a BIG priority for us when we take family trips, as you may have noted if you read about our recent trip to Charleston and Savannah. We are always looking for stuff that is unique to the area we are in.

  5. I totally agree with your travel rule! 🙂

  6. I do declare! I have nevah seen anything like those potties. Good thing you took a photo. I might have blamed your wild story on the Knock You Nekkid margaritas.

  7. Kevin says:

I LOVE eating at local eateries while on vacation. It’s a great way to absorb local color and calories — and to meet people from the area. Nice post!

  8. Hey girl…I have nominated you for the Liebster Award. Hope you enjoy 🙂 Check out the details on my latest post.
